Looking for something to keep the whole family entertained this Easter? Thetford Library has a fantastic line-up of free and affordable activities for both children and adults across the holiday.

A colourful library display themed “Spring into Reading.” The backdrop is a bright blue board decorated with paper clouds, butterflies, bees, and spring flowers. At the top, large playful cut-out letters read “Spring INTO READING,” with “Spring” in multicoloured letters and “INTO READING” on yellow shapes beneath. In the foreground, a hand holds up a green piece of card featuring a simple, cheerful chick illustration. The chick has a folded, 3D orange paper beak that pops out from the page, giving it a playful, interactive look.Behind the display, bookshelves are visible with children’s books, including titles such as “Clem Fatale Has Been Betrayed” and “Guardians of the New Moon,” reinforcing the reading theme.
Children (and grownups) made Easter Chicks at the library on 31st March

Children can take part in a free Easter treasure trail running throughout the break, plus a host of themed events.

Children (and grown ups) created some fabulous Easter chicks and bunny ears at the library earlier this week, and there’s still plenty more to get involved with over the rest of the holidays, including:

  • Tuesday 7th April, 2 – 3pm – Slime workshop (advance booking required).
  • Saturday 11th April, 11am – 12pm – Make some Easter bookmarks and cards (drop-in session).

Another special highlight will be the upcoming Beekeepers’ event with Marika and Graham. Children will have the chance to learn about bees, take part in a bee-themed craft, and even try on a real beekeeper’s suit. This will be a bookable session – the date and time are still to be confirmed, so be sure to check the Thetford Library Facebook page and the NCC Library ‘What’s On’ page for further updates.

The library also runs monthly events and talks for adults. On Monday 20th April, 1.30 – 2.30pm, a local historian and author presents Our Norfolk Knight – Sir John Fastolf. Tickets for this event are free, but booking is essential as spaces are limited. Donations are also warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.
