Terry Jermy

Editor

Thetford born & schooled, Terry is passionate about Thetford and has family links to the area stretching back many generations. He is involved in numerous local groups including being the Chairman of the Charles Burrell Centre Board, a Trustee of the Thetford Community Association and was elected to Thetford Town Council aged 22 in 2008. Terry was elected Mayor of Thetford for the 2016/17 Mayoral year and he is believed to be the youngest Mayor of Thetford in its more than 800 years of a Mayoralty.

Terry also serves on Breckland District Council and Norfolk County Council. He is an avid social media user with an online blog – www.jermysjournal.blogspot.com and on Twitter via @CllrTerryJermy

Terry was approached by the previous owners of the About Thetford magazine in 2014 and asked if he wished to take over the business so that they could retire. Despite being particularly busy already he agreed to the new challenge as he wanted to see the magazine continue and develop further as it is such an important resource locally.

Terry produced the first magazine under the new ownership in November 2014 and has served as Editor since that time. During this time the magazine has grown and developed further with 13,000 magazines now printed every month and the delivery area extended to include more of the rural area surrounding Thetford.

Karren-Emma White

Assistant Editor & Marketing Officer

Just like Terry, Karen grew up and went to school in the town and has family links to the town, although only from the 1960s when her parents moved here with designer Terence Conran. One of the first to go through from the first to fifth year of the new Rosemary Musker High School, Karen then went onto Gt Yarmouth School of Art and University.

Karen loves her role as it is so varied. Meeting with people from the local and business communities and creating content for the magazine is a real passion for her. Her previous role at Norfolk Museums Service, based at the town’s Ancient House Museum also means that Karen has a strong local history background to draw on and she’s been behind many of the historical features in the magazine. She’s also the lead organiser for the much loved Thetford Open Gardens and sits on the new Academy Committee at Diamond Academy.

With a background in design, Karen has been keen to make About Thetford magazine look engaging and cater for a wide range of ages. If you are thinking of advertising with us or if you already advertise but think an ad refresh is in order, get in touch with Karen and she’ll advise you as to what will work and plan a campaign with you.

Karen is also the person to send your contributions or ideas for features to – if you’re involved in a group and you want the town to know what you do, Karen is just the person to speak to. She was the driving force behind the Out & About column and Thetford Faces. Under her direction the magazine is now recognised as one of the best of its kind in the region.

Getting to know what’s happening in our fabulous town is something our Assistant Editor is passionate about.

Jen Davey About Thetford

Jen Davey

Admin Officer

Jen has admitted to being a bit of an About Thetford Magazine geek and has kept every edition since it was first published. So, Jen is thrilled to be part of the team as the Admin Assistant. She loves keeping the office organised and working with our advertisers and contributors. Having grown up and brought her own family up in Thetford; it certainly has a special place in her heart.

During the forty something years Jen has lived in Thetford, she has been lucky to have had many memorable experiences within the community starting with her love of drama and music by playing a 4yr old Siamese child in the King and I with the Thetford and Music and Drama Society to many years later playing Cinderella with The Thetford Players whilst her own children and husband were in the audience.

Jen has made so many wonderful memories from different places and events in our town; from walking her dog, Paddy along Nun’s Bridges, and the river last week, to being on the Thetford Society Carnival float in the 90’s to then thirty years later singing as part of The Ruby Sisters for the Dads Army Museum and Queens Jubilee celebrations. Jen admires how About Thetford Magazine captures these moments for us and shares information for the future whilst celebrating the past achievements and events. Jen can’t wait to get started in this role and become a part of the team that cherishes our community and its wonderful memories and ones we’ve yet to create.
