Thetford Rugby Club recently held its Annual General Meeting, bringing members together to reflect on another successful season and recognise the dedicated volunteers whose hard work helps keep the club thriving.
While players take centre stage on matchdays, much of the club’s success is built on the efforts of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes. Two such individuals were recognised with prestigious club awards during the evening.
Chairman David Tanner presented the Chairman’s Shield to Paul Bloomfield in recognition of his outstanding commitment as House Chairman. Paul’s contribution to the club extends far beyond what many members and supporters see. Whether it’s preparing the clubhouse for Vice Presidents’ Lunches, helping maintain the facilities, or even watering the pitches at 6am to ensure they are in the best possible condition, Paul consistently goes above and beyond. His dedication and reliability have made him an invaluable member of the club.
The President’s Cup was presented by Club President David Mason to Fixtures Secretary Melissa Wood. Throughout the season, Melissa has worked tirelessly to arrange and, when necessary, rearrange fixtures to ensure rugby continues to be played week in and week out. Her organisation, patience and persistence have been instrumental in supporting players, coaches, officials and supporters throughout a busy campaign.
Thetford Rugby Club would like to congratulate both Paul and Melissa on their well-deserved awards. Their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to give their time freely perfectly embody the spirit of grassroots rugby and demonstrate the strong community values that continue to make Thetford Rugby Club a thriving and successful club.
