A new Banking Hub has now opened in Thetford, making it easier for residents and businesses to access essential financial services, after the ongoing closure of high-street branches.
The temporary hub is located at The Guildhall, Market Place, Thetford IP24 2DT and is open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. Services are available to customers of all major UK banks.
At the counter, operated by the Post Office, you can pay in cash (notes and coins) and cheques, withdraw cash, check your balance, pay utility bills and top up gas and electricity accounts. Registered businesses can also use change-giving services.
For more complicated needs, you can talk face-to-face with a community banker from your own bank. These bankers visit on different days of the week, offering private appointments to help with payments and transfers, managing accounts, and support with online banking. A community banker from NatWest is currently on-site on Wednesdays, with Halifax available on Thursdays from 9th October and Lloyds on Fridays from 10th October.
Banking Hubs are part of a national rollout, designed to ensure communities continue to have access to everyday financial services as high street bank branches close. With more than 200 hubs expected to be open by the end of 2025, they are becoming an important part of supporting both residents and local businesses.
Whilst the Guildhall is a temporary home, work on a permanent banking hub on Thetford’s high street is underway.
