Thetford Library is hosting a Slipper Swap on Tuesday, 14th January, from 10am to 1pm.
This free event invites the community to trade in their old, worn-out slippers for a brand-new pair designed to help reduce trips and falls, especially for older residents. The initiative aims to promote safety at home by addressing one of the leading causes of accidents, ill-fitting or damaged slippers. Alongside the swap, there will be expert advice and information on staying warm and well during the colder months.
Confirmed partners for the event include Age UK, Citizen’s Advice, Tech Skills for Life, and Healthwatch, who will be on hand to offer guidance on winter wellbeing, from heating support to tips for maintaining good health.
The Slipper Swap is a fantastic opportunity to prepare for winter and stay safe. Don’t miss out! For more information, contact Thetford Library or drop in on the day. Stay warm, stay safe, and see you there! Visit [email protected] for more information.
Thetford Library are also encouraging children to read over winter with a free reading challenge! It’s an amazing confidence booster and the perfect thing to keep the reading momentum going for young people.
Taking part is simple. Children need to read three or more books between 1st December and 20th February and add them to their profile.
Participants can read anything they like – audiobooks count too. Reaching their reading goal will unlock an adorable limited-edition online badge and a new certificate of achievement to print off and treasure. Happy reading!
