Thetford will welcome its new Mayor on Tuesday 19th May, as Councillor Vic Peters is officially sworn in at the Mayor Making ceremony at Thetford Guildhall.

“I am excited to have been elected by my fellow councillors to be the Mayor of Thetford for the forthcoming Mayoral year,” said Councillor Peters.
“Thetford has been my home for 19 years, and I, along with my wife Joanne, look forward to representing and promoting our town to the best of our abilities. Additionally, I will strive to raise funds for my chosen Mayoral charities.”
“This year, I have selected youth organisations and clubs across Thetford as my focus, encompassing sports, community initiatives and the arts. I hope to include as many groups as possible, including Thetford Scouts, Thetford Boxing Club, and Thetford Voices.”
“The Mayoress and I are honoured to serve the town over the next year.”
Cllr Peters currently served as Deputy Mayor for the 2025/26 term, supporting events and engagements across the town. He represents Burrell Ward and will be accompanied in his role by his wife Joanne, who will serve as Mayoress for the 2026/2027 term.
Councillor Mac MacDonald will also be confirmed in the role of Deputy Mayor for the 2026-2027 Mayoral term.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been nominated and supported by my fellow councillors for election as Deputy Mayor of Thetford,” said Councillor MacDonald.
“Having been proud to call Thetford home for the past ten years, my wife Sue and I very much look forward to supporting the Mayor and Mayoress in their duties.”
“I am committed to working closely with my fellow councillors and to serving our community with dedication, integrity and genuine care as, together, we continue to build a vibrant and inclusive future for Thetford.”
Councillor MacDonald has served as a Town Councillor since 2022 and represents Boudica Ward. He also supports the Norwich Road Residents Association.
