Found within the Charles Burrell Centre on Staniforth Road, the Burrell Shop is East Anglia’s first Social Supermarket, aiming to help the local community save money and combat food waste.

Offering low prices, special offers, and often free items, the shop typically saves its customers up to 30% on their total basket compared to high street prices.
The stock is sourced directly from large national supermarkets and networks such as Nourishing Norfolk and FareShare.
Additionally, generous donations come from both individuals and local businesses, including Warburtons, The Elveden Estate, and Amirose London. Alongside providing good quality, affordable food, toiletries, and household essentials, the Burrell Shop also helps its members access further support, such as applications to FuelBank. Staff and volunteers are on hand to provide guidance and direct customers to other available community resources.

Membership is open to every household with an IP24 postcode, requiring just a £3.50 one-off subscription fee (proof of address required).
The shop operates on Tuesdays from 2–6pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am–4pm. The Burrell Shop continues to play a vital role in Thetford, ensuring that good food does not go to waste and that affordable essentials remain accessible to local residents.
