As we start September, and the colder, darker days approach, enABLE Thetford are mindful that many people, particularly Thetford’s older residents and those who have disabilities, face stark choices between buying food or keeping warm.
To help residents to prepare enABLE Thetford will be holding a Winter Wellbeing Fayre on Tuesday 16th September in the Howlett Room at Thetford Methodist Church, between 10.30am and 2.00pm.
The event will be on a smaller scale than our Spring Wellbeing Fayre but there will be a greater opportunity for visitors to sit down and talk with the representatives about the specific problem(s) they may face during the coming months.
The following agencies will be represented at the event: Age UK Norfolk, Citizens’ Advice Bureau, Community Action Norfolk, Norfolk Trading Standards, SCOPE, Breckland Council’s Inspiring Communities team, and enABLE Thetford.
The topics included will cover a wide range of energy advice and tips, including making savings if you use oil-fired heating, the Priority Services Register, carbon monoxide awareness, guidance on available benefits, grants, discounts and funding. There will also be information on how to stay safe from scams and rogue traders, the Norfolk Trusted Traders scheme, Good Neighbour Schemes, AccessibiliTEA, Cancer and Bereavement Support.
Refreshments will be available to buy at The Friendly Café in the Harling Room from 10am. In addition, visitors to the Fayre may have free soup and a roll, served between 12.15 and 1.15pm.
