The annual Thetford Open Garden Plant Sale is returning on 10th May. For one day only the regular plant sale stall at 28 Arlington Way will be teeming with all sorts of plants.

It’s not just plants you can buy – there will also be an assortment of homemade scones to take away too. Proceeds from the plant sale now make up a significant part of the fundraising total given to St Nicholas Hospice Care each year and the team are hoping to smash the £14,881.74 that they raised last year.
After losing the funding from Norfolk & Waveney ICB that covered Thetford, St Nicholas Hospice Care needs support more than ever to keep providing services to the town.
“We are really grateful to everyone who donates plants or helps on the day,” said Thetford Open Gardens Chair, Karen-Emma White, “we have a brilliant team of keen gardeners who help out and are happy to share their plant knowledge and suggestions for filling those awkward gaps in your borders.” If you are lifting or splitting plants, please consider donating them. If you need pots pop along to 28 Arlington Way and Sue will help you.
Tickets for this year’s Open Gardens event on Sunday 22nd June will go on sale at Leaping Hare in King Street and Thetford Garden Centre from the first weekend of May. There’s a selection of new gardens, along with some old favourites.
Sue is preparing to bake over 50 cakes again and Mal from Turner Funerals will be firing up his ever popular Aussie BBQ. New for 2025 is a flower festival and botanical art exhibition at St Cuthbert’s Church organised by Rachel Woods.
The team have worked hard to pull together a fabulous range of prizes for the grand raffle including a Rhino cold frame worth £495, tickets for RHS Hyde Hall, Thetford Garden Centre vouchers worth £100, a voucher for The Mulberry, Tempting Tables afternoon tea in a box along with a selection of hampers and other goodies.
Main sponsors for this year’s campaign are Lawsons Estate Agents, Thetford Garden Centre, Colour Print and About Thetford magazine. For the latest updates about Thetford Open Gardens, follow them on Facebook.
