Queensway Academy Principal Abi Wright reflects on the transformation of the school, its close partnership with Thetford Academy and the opportunities offered to pupils

Queensway Academy is a school with a real story to tell. Over the past few years, our school community has been on an exciting journey of transformation, and we are proud of how far we have come. Thanks to strong leadership, dedicated staff, supportive families and the backing of Inspiration Trust, Queensway Academy continues to go from strength to strength.
Today, Queensway Infant Academy and Queensway Junior Academy work closely together to provide a caring, inclusive and ambitious education for local children. By working as one academy, we ensure a smooth and supportive learning journey from Reception through to Year 6, helping every child feel confident, valued and ready to succeed.

As part of the Inspiration Trust family of schools, many of our pupils go on to attend Thetford Academy. This close partnership provides children with a clear pathway through their education, supported by a carefully sequenced curriculum from the early years right through to sixth form. It also helps pupils make a positive and confident transition to the next stage of their learning.
Queensway Infant and Junior Academies being taken over by Inspiration Trust marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Since then, staff across both schools have worked incredibly hard to create an environment where children can flourish academically, socially and emotionally. We are delighted that these improvements have recently been recognised through two positive Ofsted inspections, which highlighted the progress being made and the strong leadership driving the academy forward.

Of course, life at Queensway Academy is about much more than lessons. We believe children learn best when they are inspired, challenged and given opportunities to explore the world around them. From pond dipping at Knettishall Heath and educational visits to sporting competitions, performances and leadership opportunities, our pupils enjoy a rich range of experiences that help build confidence, resilience and independence.
Everything we do is rooted in our core values of Respect, Working Hard and Resilience. These values are woven through daily school life and help our children develop into kind, responsible and determined young people.
As we continue our journey of improvement, we are also looking for people from our local community to join our Academy Committee. This is a rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of Queensway Academy, support school improvement and make a positive difference for local children. You do not need to work in education – we welcome people from all backgrounds who care about giving children the very best opportunities.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils, staff and families, and excited about what the future holds. Queensway Academy is a school on the rise, and we would love our community to be part of that journey.
