Thetford Rugby Club have seen a run of success in the Eastern Counties 1 North league, following a narrow one-point defeat against Great Yarmouth & Broadland in the first game of the season.

Determined to bounce back, Thetford travelled to Norwich Medics and came away with a well-earned 27–21 victory. Tries from Kyllo Coulter, Will Bruce, Aaron Eagle, Lumbard, and Sparks reflected the team’s depth and determination. After falling behind in the second half, Thetford dug deep to reclaim control, showing the resilience needed for a successful campaign.
Back at Two Mile Bottom, Thetford turned on the style in front of a large home crowd, defeating Holt 2s by 57–31 in a free-flowing contest played in blustery conditions. Early tries from King and Eagle set the tone, before second-half scores from Frazer, Pereira, and Walters sealed the win and delighted the supporters gathered after another well-attended Vice Presidents’ lunch.
After a walkover win against Diss, Thetford then faced Beccles, in what was billed to be their toughest game of the season so far. Thetford started strongly, powering into an early lead with a try from Connor Sillet before withstanding heavy pressure from a determined Beccles side. A crucial defensive tackle from Kimber forced a turnover, allowing debutant and man of the match Charlie Vendy to sprint the length of the pitch for a superb solo try. Two driving scores from Aaron Eagle extended the lead to 26–0 at half time, before Vendy crossed again early in the second half. Beccles hit back with three late tries to narrow the gap, but Thetford’s control and composure ensured a well-earned win in what was arguably their best performance of the season.
Thetford currently sit second in the league table behind Lowestoft & Yarmouth, who they play on the 29th November.
