Our August edition marks twenty years since the first ever About Thetford magazine. To celebrate the occasion, we’re revisiting a fan favourite: Thetford Past and Present!

From 2006 to 2022, the late David Osborne shared his collection of photos of Thetford from days gone by, with a “before and after” snap from the modern day.
We’ve trawled through our archive and picked out some Past and Present greatest hits, which will be used to run an interactive Thetford Treasure Trail through town, allowing you to view and enjoy these pictures in the spot they were originally taken.

Proudly part of the Norfolk County Council and Breckland Council’s Love Your Market Town scheme, people who complete the trail will receive a card of discounts to spend in the town centre. Send us your best photo recreation on Facebook or Instagram, and you’ll also be entered into a draw to win a £25 Thetford shopping voucher!
The trail will run from the 26th July to the 25th August 2025. Keep an eye out for QR codes appearing in shop windows, much like our previous Treasure Trails, Follow That Star and the Egg-Cellent Easter Trail.
The trail will launch on Saturday 26th July The first location is the Ancient House Museum on Whitehart Street.
