After nearly 60 years at RAF Barnham, 1109 (Thetford) Air Cadets have moved to a brand-new building on Croxton Road.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) have had a squadron in Thetford since 1941, providing adventurous activities, flying, training and education to thousands of young people. They have also played an active role in the local community, supporting charities and taking part in formal parades.
Commanding Officer, Warrant Officer Dave Towell, said, “Although it’s sad to leave Barnham Camp, we’re excited to see what the future holds for us in our new home and to continue to offer an even better experience for our cadets and volunteers. Our team has been working hard to get everything in order, and we’re looking forward to welcoming both new cadets and volunteers.”

The RAFAC is a uniformed youth organisation with 43,000 Air Cadets across the UK, supported by 10,000 adult volunteers. Life in the Air Cadets is filled with adventure and enriching experiences, including flying, gliding, radio operations, leadership training, shooting, sports and fieldcraft.
Cadets can join from age 12 (Year 8) up to age 17, while adults can volunteer from age 18, with both uniformed and non-uniformed roles available. All volunteers undergo a recruitment process, including a DBS check, with full training provided. The squadron holds two recruitment intakes a year for cadets, in spring and autumn, while adult volunteers are welcome year-round.
