A costumed museum educator dressed in a Tudor-style outfit, including a white bonnet and historical dress, engages a group of young children in a hands-on learning session. She is demonstrating an artifact while the children, dressed in modern clothing, watch attentively. A table covered with a purple cloth displays various historical objects such as pottery, wooden combs, and metal tools. Behind them, a museum display case holds additional artifacts.
Visitors can get hands-on with some of the museum’s artifacts

On Friday 14th February, Ancient House is inviting home-educating families to step back in time to Tudor Thetford. Participants will meet costumed characters, handle real artefacts, learn about Tudor mathematics, and try writing with a quill pen. This workshop is designed for children aged nine to eleven years, although older and younger children are welcome. Advance booking is essential. The cost is £5 per child, with accompanying adults and children under 4 attending for free.

The background features illustrated vintage-style objects such as keys, books, and a compass. The book cover is displayed on the right, showing an illustrated cover with various symbols and images from the story. A circular badge announces a competition to "WIN a signed Tourmaline series bundle and a National Art Pass!" The Kids in Museums and Little Tiger logos appear at the bottom.
Follow the adventures of Tourmaline at the museum from 15th February

In partnership with Little Tiger and Kids in Museums, Ancient House is offering a fun spotter trail for February half-term, inspired by Tourmaline and the Museum of Marvels by Ruth Lauren — a fun, feminist adventure series for children aged nine to twelve.

The trail follows Tourmaline, whose strange new magical powers are causing chaos. Desperate to control them, she receives a mysterious postcard promising answers and embarks on an unforgettable adventure to the Museum of Marvels. Visitors at Ancient House are invited to join this adventure. The trail will be available from Saturday 15th February, until Saturday 1st March 2025, and is free with museum admission.
