As spring 2025 begins, Thetford Conservation and In Bloom volunteer groups are gearing up for another year of community projects. Following their efforts in 2024, the groups are excited to rejoin the Town Team in litter picks, conservation tasks, weeding and planting in preparation for the busy season ahead.

Several exciting projects are planned, including the installation of pocket parks and community orchards, as well as butterfly and wildlife surveys for volunteers to take part in.
The Thetford in Bloom group meets on Friday mornings at 10am at The Carnegie, focusing on horticultural tasks such as weeding and planting. The Thetford Conservation Volunteers meet on Thursday mornings at 10.30am, undertaking conservation and environmental tasks such as bramble and gorse clearance, litter picking and installing bird boxes.
Residents are always welcome to join, whether for a one-off session or on a regular basis. As both groups operate outdoors, volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather, wear suitable footwear and be prepared for a bit of mud.
The groups will also be helping Thetford in its bid for gold at the 2025 Anglia in Bloom awards. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the Town Team, Thetford achieved its first Silver-Gilt award in the Large Town category last year, and hopes to build on that success.
Additionally, both groups will support the Thetford Big Spring Clean 2025, with litter picks taking place across the town from 21st to 23rd March.
