Two Thetford businesses are celebrating success at the 2026 Anglia in Bloom awards after being nominated by Thetford Town Council as part of its Thetford in Bloom initiative.

Turner Funerals received a Gold award and was named the regional winner of the Best Hospitality or Service Provider category, while The Black Horse public house earned Silver-Gilt.

Both businesses formed part of Thetford’s wider Anglia in Bloom submission and impressed judges with their floral displays.

Turners’ success across the entire Anglia region represents a significant achievement for a local business. Alongside The Black Horse’s Silver-Gilt award, it highlights the care local businesses put into their surroundings and their contribution towards making Thetford welcoming for residents and visitors.

The business awards accompany a Silver-Gilt award for Thetford overall, recognising a wider community effort involving Thetford Town Council officers, volunteers, local schoolchildren and businesses.

More than 25 business sponsors supported this year’s campaign by funding planting and sculptures, providing volunteer time and making other contributions.

Mayor of Thetford Cllr Vic Peters said: “Being awarded a Silver-Gilt award is a wonderful achievement for Thetford. It reflects the dedication of our volunteers, local schoolchildren, council officers, support from local businesses and everyone who has helped our town flourish.

“This year’s displays have combined creativity, community partnerships and care for the environment, and we are incredibly proud of what the community has achieved together.”

Looking ahead to the 2027 campaign, he added: “We would like to thank the Black Horse, Turners Funeral Service and all of the other businesses that have got involved with the projects this year.

“We had over 25 sponsors for the planting, sculptures, volunteer time and other efforts. It is wonderful to see such a strong community effort in the town, and we look forward to building on this success in 2027.”
