His Majesty The King has approved the appointment of three new Deputy Lieutenants for the County of Norfolk with immediate effect.
The three will be available to represent the Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Dannatt, at important events from time to time and their appointment takes the number of Deputy Lieutenants in Norfolk to 50, including the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Michael Gurney, DL.

Mary Bolton was born and educated in Edinburgh, followed by Oxford University where she read French at St Hilda’s College. She then worked in the London wine trade and in development aid project management in Cambridge before she moved to Norfolk in 1989 with her husband David. They brought up their five children in the county and the younger three were at school in Norwich. Given her husband’s involvement in the UK agricultural industry Mary has always taken the keenest interest in that sector and in the food industry generally. Her voluntary work has tended to focus on helping children and young people whose lives are disrupted by illness or disadvantage (notably Clic Sargent now Young Lives vs Cancer) and also on supporting community life, particularly through local church fundraising events. She is currently Lead Ambassador in Norfolk for Cambridge Children’s Hospital for the East of England, fundraising to help build a specialist hospital to serve the region’s children.
Mary is a keen cook and gardener and volunteers each year for the National Gardens Scheme. Her interests also include all aspects of the visual arts.
Victoria Keith was born in York and received her early education at The Bar Convent York and later attended Sherborne School for Girls in Dorset. She graduated from Reading University with a BSc Hons in Agriculture. After university, she spent a year working in Nigeria on Tsetse fly research. Her professional career began in marketing as a Marketing Executive at Paul’s and Whites in Ipswich, followed by a move to Nottingham to work in the agrochemical industry as a Group Brand Manager. During this time, she travelled to South America, where she met her future husband, James Keith. From 1985 to 1986, she worked as an Advertising Executive at Ogilvy and Mather in London. She then became Head of Marketing for a consortium of charities focusing on Payroll Giving from 1986 to 1987. After marrying in 1987, she moved to Norfolk and balanced market research jobs with running a small business offering domestic courses. She served as a school governor at Swanton Morley Primary School for ten years and was actively involved in several Norfolk organizations, including Heritage House and the North West Norfolk Arts Society. She is also a member of the Staithe Singers. Currently, she is a director of Swanton Morley Farms and The Organic Pig Company. She is a devoted mother of five children and a grandmother to three grandchildren. Victoria opens her garden for NGS and St John’s Ambulance fundraising.
Lady Dannatt, the Lord-Lieutenant, remarked, “Our new Deputy Lieutenants have demonstrated a remarkable dedication to the County and its residents. I am delighted to welcome them to a team of Deputies who have consistently shown exceptional commitment in supporting communities in Norfolk. I am confident that our new Deputies will perform their duties with the same level of distinction.”

Deputy Lieutenants support the work and represent the Lord-Lieutenant, who is His Majesty The King’s representative in each county. Having been chosen on the basis of service already given, a Deputy Lieutenant will continue to serve the community both within and outside the framework of the Lieutenancy by supporting the Lord-Lieutenant.
