Thetford Pride returns on Saturday 2nd August, and this year it’s bigger, bolder and prouder than ever before. For the first time, there will be a Pride parade through the town centre, kicking off a full day and evening of celebration.

Run by Thetford LGBT+, who’ve been active locally for eight years, this will be their first full-scale Pride and they’re pulling out all the stops.

The parade starts at 10:30am from Riverside Walk and finishes at The Guildhall, where the Town Crier will open the main event with a special proclamation. From 11am, the celebration will include community stalls, live music, speakers, and an LGBTQ+ history exhibition in partnership with Queer Norfolk and the local library.

Highlights include a performance of Restless, a short play by local writer Tony Vale, and a talk by author and Polari Press founder Paul Burston about his new book We Can Be Heroes. The event is free, family-friendly, and designed to be inclusive and accessible to all.

They pose thoughtfully against a soft pink backdrop with gold streamers at the edges, radiating confidence and style.

From 7pm to 11pm, the party continues at the Carnegie Room with United After Dark, the official 18+ Pride afterparty hosted by Uncle Nic. The evening will feature drag acts Tammy Paxton, Ivory Glam, Deeno Dick, Sara Khasm and Thetford’s Big Taystee (pictured), along with live music from Charley XO, Paradox of Ravens, Josh Lincoln and PJ Taylor.

A surprise guest, whose identity is still under wraps, is also set to headline. Organisers promise a star who’s recorded with Kylie, performed around the world, and appeared on TV shows from The Voice UK to Come Dine With Me.
