South Breckland Art Trail returns for fifth year

Artists across South Breckland will once again be opening their studios, homes and gardens to visitors this June as the South Breckland Art Trail returns for its fifth year.

Illustrated artwork showing a row of tall, twisted pine trees silhouetted against a pale blue sky with soft clouds. The trees cast long shadows across grassy ground, while sparse green foliage clings to the winding branches. Sunlight glows behind the trees, creating a calm woodland scene with a stylised, print-like appearance.

The free event takes place across two weekends — Saturday and Sunday 6th-7th June and 13th-14th June — with studios open from 11am until 4pm.

This year’s trail features nine artists working across a wide range of styles and disciplines, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media and traditional rush weaving.

Visitors will have the chance to explore how artwork is created, speak directly with artists, purchase original pieces and, in some locations, take part in hands-on creative experiences and workshops.

The trail stretches across the villages of Garboldisham, East Harling, Larling, Banham, North Lopham and South Lopham, creating a scenic route that organisers say also lends itself well to cycling between venues.

As well as showcasing local artistic talent, several artists involved in the trail offer commissions, workshops and opportunities to learn new creative skills throughout the year.

Some venues along the route will also provide light refreshments, while stopping-off points include community pub The Fox in Garboldisham.

Maps for the trail are available from local venues including Thetford Library and Leaping Hare in King Street, or can be downloaded online.

Organisers say the event is designed to encourage visitors to discover the variety of creative talent found across this corner of Norfolk, while offering a relaxed and welcoming opportunity to meet artists in the spaces where they work.
