Nelson’s Journey, a local charity supporting children and young people in Norfolk who’ve experienced the death of a significant person, has been chosen as the new charity partner of Norfolk County Council’s Reuse Shops.

Each year, staff across Norfolk’s Reuse Shops nominate and vote for a local charity to benefit from the partnership. The chosen charity receives a share of the proceeds from the shop’s sales.
Councillor James Besly, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “When visiting our Reuse Shops, not only can you pick up a bargain, but you’ll also get the chance to support a great local charity.”
Since 1997, Nelson’s Journey has helped young people understand and cope with bereavement, while also supporting professionals like teachers and health workers to better support grieving children.
Chief Executive Simon Wright said: “We are so grateful to the staff of Norfolk’s Reuse Shops. As a charity, we rely on the support of our local community to respond to the growing number of families needing our help.”
Reuse Shops, found at most Norfolk County Council recycling centres, sell donated items ranging from furniture to toys and electricals. Supporting the shops—either by donating or buying—helps save money, reduce waste, and protect the planet. To date, they’ve raised over £120,000 for local charities including Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
