The Thetford Singers’ annual summer concert treated audiences to a delightful evening of musical theatre, featuring a lively journey through iconic show tunes with a few unexpected twists along the way.

The Carnegie was filled with rich harmonies and uplifting melodies, creating a vibrant atmosphere that nearly lifted listeners from their seats by the finale.
The 42-strong choir was led by Musical Director Chris Parsons, with Fiona Barnett on piano and Simon Barnett on percussion. The programme included favourites from The Lion King, Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hamilton, Wicked, and Mamma Mia.
The choir was joined by Thursday Nights, who performed the jazzy and light-hearted Jonah-Man Jazz. This six-song suite brought a fun twist to the Old Testament tale, with narration by Simon and direction by Sally Bauer.

The top tapping moment of audience participation came during You’ll Be Back from Hamilton, where King George III’s tongue-in-cheek plea to halt the American Revolution struck a particularly witty note, especially fitting in a town that gave the world revolutionary thinker Thomas Paine. It was another polished and joyful performance from Thetford Singers.
The group welcomes new members and meets every Wednesday evening, returning on 3rd September. For more information: www.thetfordsingers.org
