Meet the police at Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel

If you’ve ever wondered what the Thetford police team does and how they set their priorities, the SNAP meetings are a great place to find out.

A police officer stands alert outside a flint-stone church in Thetford, looking down a wet, empty street on a grey, overcast day. He is wearing a traditional British police helmet and holding his high-vis vest straps. In the distance, a few pedestrians cross the road, and shops including “Cheers Restaurant” line the right side of the street.
Breckland Police on patrol in Thetford

Four times a year, Breckland Police invites residents covered by the Thetford Neighbourhood Police Team to attend a Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel (SNAP) meeting. These sessions provide updates on current policing priorities, offer a chance to raise concerns, and allow for questions from the public.

At the most recent meeting, held on 10th April in Thetford, updates were given on tackling rural crime and anti-social behaviour. Residents raised concerns about ASB in specific streets, vandalism in the town centre, CCTV monitoring, speeding, and how best to report issues.

The current priorities for our district, set in early May, are tackling anti-social behaviour, particularly in Dereham and Thetford, and tackling rural and acquisitive crime across Breckland North and South.

The next SNAP meetings will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday 9th July at Oxborough Village Hall, and at 6.30pm on Tuesday 7th October at Thetford Guildhall.
