Calling all budding Magnus Carlsens! Want to improve your chess game or get more involved developing Thetford’s chess community? JJ’s Chess Coaching could be the next move for you.

Jaden, a young chess coach based in Thetford, offers one-to-one or small group coaching sessions online via Zoom or in person at the Charles Burrell Centre. With over three years of coaching experience and a playing career that began at age seven, Jaden has held regional and national titles and previously represented England at under-12 level. He’s also competed internationally in countries including the Netherlands, Spain, Tobago and Germany, and currently plays first board for Norfolk County.
“Chess has taught me a lot and helped me through life. I’d like to give back, help others grow, and build a chess community in Thetford,” said Jaden.
Sessions are designed for all levels and cover topics like game analysis, strategy, and competition prep. Jaden’s approach focuses on practical gameplay and understanding how to adapt to real-life opponents, something he says you can’t learn from computers alone.
He’s also worked with players of all backgrounds, from street players to millionaires. Street chess, he says, was often the most fun. “Chess gives you the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people from all across the world.”
Discounts are available for children and students. Prices start at £12 for 30 minutes or £22 for one hour (up to 2 people, £5 for each additional person). For more information, email: jadenjermychess@gmail.com
