Staff from across Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service will be getting in a lather as they aim to take on a fundraising challenge in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.
Crews and other service staff will be based at 27 fire stations across Norfolk for the simultaneous car wash event. They will be armed with sponges, buckets and gallons of water on Saturday 26th October, with crews from 30 stations alongside staff from NFRS’s professional services teams rolling up their sleeves to help.
Everyone is welcome to bring down their car for a rinse and make a donation to the charity in return for a gleaming set of wheels.
The event is this year’s Norfolk Chief’s Challenge, set by Chief Fire Officer Ceri Sumner.
She said: “Last year the team were set a challenge to run around the county visiting every one of our 42 fire stations. This year we’ve gone for something different and encouraged everyone to get involved. I have asked the team to try and wash 999 cars during the event across Norfolk. All the money from the car washes will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, which is our nominated service charity.”
Events will be taking place across the county, with some fire stations also throwing in extra fundraising activities such as refreshments and raffles, as well as the offer of getting some free safety advice to help keep you safe at home and on the roads.
