There’s a fantastic line-up of events and activities taking place this month across Thetford and Croxton as part of Heritage Open Days (HODS).

Thetford Open Studios returns for a five-day celebration of artisan skills at Maker’s Cottage on Magdalen Street, with different makers showcasing their work each day. Brett Straight, Rick Stephenson, Yvonne Pratt, Dan Morgan, Chris Sanderson, Janet Smith-Gibbons, Julie Eagle and Gill Thornton will join Emily Chapman, who has created a stunning new painting of Thetford, which will be displayed during the week.
Annette Morgan, an award-winning textile artist and former President of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles, will be at Maker’s Cottage on Wednesday 17th September. Her one-off pieces, made through a mix of hand/machine sewing, printing, and collage, will also be part of the CQ Iceni Contemporary Textile Exhibition at Croxton Village Hall on 20th–21st September (10am–4pm), coinciding with All Saints Church opening. Riversdale will host a special Over the Years open house event exploring the story of this riverside home, which has stood since 1847. Drop in on: Friday 12th September (8am–3pm), Thursday 18th & Friday 19th September (8am–2pm), Saturday 20th September (8am–3pm)
The Guildhall is offering behind-the-scenes tours of the clock tower restoration from 15th–21st September, 10am–2pm daily.
