For the last fifteen years, The Mulberry restaurant has been providing high-quality dining in Thetford town centre.
A family-run business, they make the most of locally sourced ingredients, crafted into seasonal dishes that wow with presentation, without compromising on portion size. The restaurant continues to hold an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence and has appeared on several TV programmes over the years including Location, Location, Location and Escape To The Country.
The owner, Karen Connor, describes the food as “British, with a Mediterranean twist.” Their ‘best bites’ include fresh seafood delivered daily, generous cuts of steak sourced in Norfolk, as well as homemade desserts. A three course meal starts at £35 per person, with a variety of locally sourced drinks to pair with your meal. The new Spring menu launched at the end of March, “Our chef likes to include seasonal dishes, and changing the menu keeps our dining experience fresh and there’s something new for regular diners to enjoy.” Karen explained.
The Mulberry also takes pride in training the next generation of restaurateurs. Head chef Mark mentors two students from West Suffolk College, and young people are given a first shot in the hospitality industry under the watchful eye of Karen, and Gemma who has worked with Karen for eight years. “Regulars love seeing the young people grow into their role,” said Karen.
The restaurant, on Raymond Street, opens Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm. New for 2025, is a new cocktail menu to enjoy whilst you dine, including a special Mulberry gin cocktail coming soon! Karen hopes that the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere and flavoursome food will appeal to those that are out of the habit of eating out, bringing them back to the town centre. “There’s never been a better time to get together with friends or loved ones and enjoy a midweek treat!”
The Mulberry is also the perfect venue for groups or intimate celebrations such as birthday celebrations, engagements, weddings or special anniversaries for up to 48 people.
