Thetford Methodist Church has been lit up with the lights of their annual Christmas Tree Festival.
The festival, running for the 25th time, invites local businesses and groups to decorate a tree. This year, the time was ‘Simply Silver,’ to mark the anniversary.
There are 49 trees in all, with decorations ranging from traditional to more eccentric. Participants were allowed to interpret the theme however they want, including a ‘tree’ made from Long John Silver‘s pirate ship!
The festival is accompanied by a variety of events, including a concert by Thetford Singers on the 18th December, a festive quiz night on the 20th, and a visits from Father Christmas and some miniature donkeys on the 21st!
This year will be the last year that many volunteers, involved since the first Tree Festival, will be involved in celebrations at the Methodist Church.
“Please don’t worry – I’m sure something will be happening next year to celebrate this wonderful season,” said Neville Hodson.
“Thank you to all those who have helped over 25 years to prepare, decorate, steward, pray, and clean up afterwards. I must particularly thank the Tree Festival Committee for all they have done in recent years to support these festivals – a real team effort.”
