Members of the cast and crew of Thetford Players’ production of Calendar Girls: The Musical took to The Priory last month to celebrate raising £2,440 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

£1,000 of the total was raised through the sale of TP’s own nude calendar, photographed by Pat Mitchell, with its cover photographed by Neil James Media.

The calendar also celebrated Thetford, with photo shoots taking place at the Dad’s Army Museum, Puddin’ and the Charles Burrell Museum.

Generous sponsorship from Shipon Miah and the team at New Saffron meant 100% of sales could go to charity, with all 100 limited-edition copies being sold.

To play the role of John, who sadly loses his battle with cancer in the show, cast member Martin Godfrey ‘Braved the Shave’ for Macmillan, raising £445.

Between cash donations and a generous £250 contribution from TP’s lighting and sound technicians at C&S PA Hire, the total had reached £2,000 by the end of the show.

This was then pushed up to the final total when fellow cast member Seb Donoghue also ‘Braved the Shave’ in memory of his dad, raising £440.

“To put this into perspective, £2,000 could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two and a half weeks, helping people living with cancer receive the support they need,” said Beth from Macmillan. “We really couldn’t do what we do without supporters like you.”

With their latest show, Hadestown: Teen Edition, taking place on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd October, the Players now look forward to their 2027 pantomime, Cinderella.
