School Lane Surgery is once again taking part in the St Nicholas Hospice Care Sunset Walk and is appealing for community support to help reach a £2,500 fundraising target.

The School Lane Surgery team at last year’s Sunset Walk, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care
On Saturday 20th June, I will once again be joining an incredible team from School Lane Surgery as we take part in the 2026 Sunset Walk in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
This year, 14 colleagues will be walking together through Bury St Edmunds to help raise vital funds for a charity that means so much to so many people across our local community. Last year, thanks to the amazing generosity and support of our community, we raised more than £1,800 for the hospice.
This year, we are setting ourselves an even more ambitious target of £2,500.
I know that is a significant amount to aim for, particularly at a time when many people are facing financial pressures of their own, but I also know how important the work of St Nicholas Hospice Care is. Every single donation, no matter how small, genuinely helps to make a difference.
As a team, we see first-hand the importance of compassionate, dignified and supportive care for patients and their families during some of the most difficult moments in life. St Nicholas Hospice Care provides exactly that. Through specialist end-of-life care, bereavement support, counselling services, community nursing, and helping patients remain comfortable at home surrounded by loved ones, the hospice touches the lives of countless local families every single year.
For many people in our area, the hospice has provided comfort, reassurance and kindness when it has been needed most. It is a charity that relies heavily on fundraising and community support to continue delivering its services.
We would be enormously grateful for any support the community can offer. Donations of any size are hugely appreciated and will go directly towards helping St Nicholas Hospice Care continue its vital work across West Suffolk and Thetford.
If you are unable to donate, simply sharing our fundraising appeal with others can still make an enormous difference.

On behalf of everyone at School Lane Surgery, thank you for your continued kindness, generosity and support. Together, we can help ensure St Nicholas Hospice Care continues to be there for local families when they need it most.
