The café at the Charles Burrell Centre is under new management following a community-focused takeover by a local business owner.

Kam Chiraghuddin, who also owns K&A Plumbers, stepped in to reopen the space after the previous tenant closed just days after he moved into the centre.
“I think the Charles Burrell Centre is amazing – it’s a hidden gem in Thetford,” said Kam. “It’s a really nice space for the benefit of the whole community, and we want to make the café a place for tenants and visitors alike to come and get a decent meal. We’re not in it for the money, we’re in it for the community spirit.”
Café K&A’s new chef, Connor, will launch a range of hearty hot food options from Monday 4th May. “The classics, like shepherd’s pie and jacket potatoes, will be on offer, alongside favourites like cheeseburgers and chips,” said Kam. “We’ll also be offering full English breakfasts – there’ll be something for everyone. Our main goal is to keep prices down – a good plate of food for under £5.”
Hot and cold drinks are also available, along with grab-and-go items such as crisps, sandwiches and sausage rolls. A small play area has also been set up for young children, particularly for families waiting while older children attend classes or activities.
The café’s opening hours from 4th May will match those of the centre – 8am – 9pm on weekdays, and 8am – 4pm on Saturdays.
